On August 15, 2024, Father John Takahashi celebrated the Dormition feast at Prophet Elias. The icon of the Dormition, depicting the death of our Most Holy Theotokos – Mother of God, was adorned by Dena and Helen Mitropoulos. Note in the icon Christ is standing and holding the Soul of Theotokos, depicted as a babe. A reminder that we all will be held by Christ at our death.
